An expert in pediatric anesthesiology, Dr. Newton Seiden is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in anesthesiology. He has been an attending pediatric anesthesiologist and intensivist at Valley Children’s since 1990.

An active member of Valley Children’s medical staff, Dr. Seiden has served on several Hospital committees, including the Strategic Planning Committee, Leadership Steering Committee, and Multispecialty Peer Review Committee, as well as co-chair of the Medication Patient Safety Committee. He has also served in an administrative capacity as chief of staff, associate medical director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and medical director for Transport in the PICU at Valley Children’s.

Dr. Seiden’s professional activities include membership in several societies including the American College of Physicians Executives, the Society for Critical Care Medicine and the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia. He is an accomplished jazz bass player and has a special interest in landscape photography.

A graduate from State University of New York, Dr. Seiden completed his internship and residency in the department of pediatrics at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, Md., where he served as chief resident. He also completed a residency in the department of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Seiden did a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
