12:15 PM  to  1:00 PM

Join speaker Dr. Courtney Gilliam on Thursday, May 25 for a virtual presentation in our Health Equity Series titled "Using Critical Race Theory to Dismantle Race-Based Medicine in Pediatric Clinical Guidelines."

This series includes invited speakers with expertise in different areas of health equity with a focus to draw attention to a different area of inequity or disparity with respect to healthcare such as patient outcomes, provider or healthcare biases or disparities between composition of healthcare staff and patient populations.

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize the role that systemic inequity, including historical and current inequity in allocation of and access to resources, plays in perpetuating health disparities for certain racial, ethnic, and other minoritized groups.
  • Discuss the role of allyship and centering the experiences and perspectives of minoritized groups and individuals in addressing health and other disparities.
  • Discuss meaningful steps those in healthcare can take at the individual, group, and systemic level to address inequity and mitigate disparities.
