Devonna Kaji, MD

President, Specialty Medical Group | Medical Director, Pediatric Urology

 

Dr. Devonna Kaji is president of Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group Central California, Inc. (SMG), a hospital-based medical corporation associated with Valley Children’s that offers some of the nation’s finest pediatric subspecialists.

Dr. Kaji joined Valley Children’s in September 2002. In her current role since April 2012, Dr. Kaji provides executive leadership to the largest pediatric specialty group in Central California. Established in 1997, SMG has grown under Dr. Kaji’s leadership to more than 150 pediatric subspecialist physicians practicing in numerous locations, including Madera, Fresno, Bakersfield, Visalia, Merced, Modesto and the Central Coast. SMG doctors provide care for premature infants, newborns, children, adolescents and young adults with congenital, acquired and acute conditions.

Dr. Kaji is board certified in urological surgery by the American Board of Urology with subspecialty certification in pediatric urology. Prior to her current role, Dr. Kaji served in the role of medical director, pediatric urology.

Dr. Kaji is a member of several professional societies, including the American Urological Association. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has held academic positions in pediatric urology at University of Colorado School of Medicine and University of Southern California School of Medicine.

Prior to coming to Valley Children’s, Dr. Kaji worked in private practice in urology in Honolulu, Hawaii and Denver, Colorado.

Born and raised in the San Joaquin Valley, Dr. Kaji graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and received her medical degree from the University of Hawaii School of Medicine in Honolulu. She completed her residency in urology at Los Angeles County–University of Southern California Medical Center and a fellowship in pediatric urology at Hospital for Sick Children in Ontario, Canada. 

In her free time, she enjoys travelling with her husband.
