Dr. Melandee Brown joined Valley Children’s in December 2016 as a pediatric neurosurgeon. Her clinical interests include brain tumors, spinal cord tumors, Chiari malformations, congenital spinal malformations, vascular malformations, endoscopic surgery and hydrocephalus.
 
Dr. Brown comes to Valley Children’s from St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she worked as an attending physician in pediatric neurosurgery.
 
Dr. Brown has presented on topics in her field across the country. She has published her work in peer-reviewed publications such as “Neurosurgery,” “Pharmacotherapy,” “Child’s Nervous System,” “Clinical Immunology” and “Developmental Neuroscience.”
 
She is a member of several professional societies, including the Congress of Neurosurgical Surgeons, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, AANS Pediatric Section, Women in Neurosurgery, and American Medical Women’s Association.
 
Dr. Brown received her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, New York. She did her internship in surgery at Columbia University in New York. She completed her residency in neurological surgery at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She also served as a visiting registrar in the Department of Neurosurgery at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, England. Dr. Brown completed a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at Children’s Hospital of Alabama at UAB in Birmingham, Alabama. She is board eligible by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
 
In her free time, she enjoys gardening, sailing and scuba diving.
