Dr. Giancarlo Lugo joined Valley Children’s in 2020 as a pediatric neurologist.

Dr. Lugo earned his medical degree from Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine (UCCSoM) in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. From there he completed a residency in pediatrics at the University Pediatric Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico. While at the University Pediatric Hospital, Dr. Lugo served as an attending physician in their emergency department. Following working at University Pediatric Hospital, he served as an Instructor of Clinical Skills at UCCSoM. He then completed a residency in pediatric neurology at Boston Medical Center.

One of Dr. Lugo’s passions is volunteering in healthcare settings. He has been an active volunteer with Medicina Urbana, where he participates in free health clinics offered to low-income communities in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. He is currently a resident member of the American Academy of Neurology and a junior member of the Child Neurology Society.

Dr. Lugo speaks English and Spanish. He enjoys traveling, watching movies and playing the guitar.
