Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. David Box joined Valley Children’s as a neonatologist in July 2020.

Dr. Box comes to Valley Children’s from the University of Oklahoma/OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, where he completed a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine.

Before receiving his medical degree from Saint George’s University in Grenada, West Indies, Dr. Box received a master’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Riverside. After medical school, he completed a pediatric residency at Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey before completing his fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Box is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and is a member of the AAP’s sections on Pediatric Trainees and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

His area of special research focus is the effect of maternal tobacco exposure on children prenatally, and its possible link with bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Dr. Box’s research endeavors have earned him several awards and recognitions, including being named a finalist for the Basic Science Young Investigator Award by the Southern Society for Pediatric Research in February 2020.

Dr. Box is passionate about community engagement and volunteerism. In his free time, he enjoys cooking and barbequing, participating in and watching sports, and spending time with family.
