Board certified in endocrinology and general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and in obesity medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine, Dr. Omar Ali joined Valley Children’s in 2018.
 
Prior to Valley Children’s, Dr. Ali was an associate professor at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where he also served as the Fellowship Program Director for the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship program. Dr. Ali has conducted NIH-funded research in the genetics and epigenetics of obesity and has several publications to his credit. He was also part of the BMI Quality Initiative Core Team for the Children’s Medical Group where he developed BMI screening and treatment initiatives. Dr. Ali has also served as a consultant pediatrician in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
 
Dr Ali has also served as a member of the editorial board for Endocrine Connections (Bioscientifica, UK), World Journal of Diabetes (China), and Annals of King Edward Medical University (Pakistan). Dr. Ali has also been a reviewer as well as published in journals, including the Journal of PediatricsJournal of Pediatric Endocrinology and MetabolismPediatric Research and Hormone Research.

Dr. Ali earned his medical degree from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, where he graduated second in his class. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Jersey City Medical Center in New Jersey. He completed his fellowships in Ambulatory and Community Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh and in Pediatric Endocrinology at Mattel Children’s Hospital at the David Geffen Medical School, UCLA in Los Angeles, California.
