Valley Children’s Opens New Outpatient Center in Fresno

Valley Children’s is pleased to announce the opening of its newest pediatric outpatient location, Spruce Specialty Care Center. Its address is 1125 E. Spruce Ave., Suite 101, near Millbrook and Herndon avenues in north Fresno, and offers Pediatric Orthopaedics and Child Advocacy services. Valley Children’s will add Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat) services later this year.

“We continuously look for ways to better serve our families,” says Valley Children’s Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer Jane Willson. “With thousands of children coming into our practices each month, we knew adding a second access point not far from the Hospital would help alleviate wait times and ensure children get the specialized pediatric care they need, as quickly as possible. The Spruce Specialty Care Center will allow for expansion of our Orthopaedics and Ear, Nose & Throat practices and our Child Advocacy program. As we assess the needs of our families, we expect to add even more services to our specialty care centers throughout the Valley.”

Valley Children’s is recognized as one of the nation’s best children’s hospitals in Orthopaedics by U.S. News & World Report in its “2017-2018 Best Children’s Hospitals” rankings. From infants to young adults, the team treats all aspects of children’s orthopaedic needs on an outpatient and inpatient basis. Each year, the department sees more than 32,000 outpatient visits and performs about 2,200 pediatric orthopaedic surgeries. Valley Children’s board-certified pediatric orthopaedic surgeons specialize in the treatment of complex conditions such as congenital deformities of upper and lower extremities, spinal disorders, sports-related injuries and neuromuscular diseases.

The Child Advocacy Clinic is part of The Guilds of Valley Children’s Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Center. The Clinic operates five days a week and sees more than 1,000 children each year. The staff includes a board-certified child abuse pediatrician, nurse practitioners who specialize in child maltreatment, social workers, a center coordinator and support staff.

The Guilds Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Center’s vision is to be the premier provider in Central California for diagnostic physical abuse assessments, foster care medical clearance examinations and pediatric sexual assault evaluations, including children who have been victims of commercial sexual exploitation. Additionally, the Center’s providers, known as the Child Advocacy Team, regularly testify in both dependency and criminal courts throughout the Valley. The Center is recognized in Central California and the state as a leader in advocacy, injury prevention, clinical research and academic training.

The Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat) Practice at Valley Children’s provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for children – from newborns to 21 years of age. As the only dedicated pediatric head and neck surgery group in Central California, the ENT team provides management of all disease processes involving the head, neck and aerodigestive tract. Valley Children’s pediatric ENT surgeons perform around 3,300 operations annually. ENT services will begin at Spruce Specialty Care Center later this year.

Valley Children’s Medical Group has outpatient specialty care centers in Modesto, Merced, Visalia and Bakersfield. Construction is underway on second locations in Modesto and Bakersfield and on new centers in Fowler and Clovis.
