H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) Visitor Restrictions Lifted

Children’s Hospital Central California has been following the Influenza A H1N1 (Swine Flu) situation and has determined it is now safe and appropriate to discontinue the visitor restrictions put in effect last month. As of May 13, Children’s Hospital will no longer be restricting visitors to patients.

Children’s Hospital used the following facts in making the decision:

  1. Except for Tulare County, there have been no confirmed cases of Influenza A H1N1 (Swine Flu) in any of the nearby counties.
  2. Children’s is not seeing an increase in inpatient admissions for flu-like illness nor an unusually high number of patients in the Emergency Department.
  3. Numerous incubation periods for Influenza A H1N1 (Swine Flu) have now passed without any evidence of an increase in flu-like illness in the region.
  4. Several other Valley hospitals have now discontinued their visitor restrictions.

Other routine measures, such as Respiratory Hygiene/Cough Etiquette and Good Health Screening of children who enter the facility, are very important and will continue (Read Children’s visitor policy).
