Board certified in pediatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. David Hodge has more than 30 years of pediatric surgical experience. Dr. Hodge has been a pediatric surgeon at Children’s for more than 10 years. He was in private practice as a pediatric surgeon for 20 years prior to joining the Hospital in 1999.
Active in the community, Dr. Hodge is a member of the Fresno Rotary Club and the founder of Project Niño, a voluntary education and clinical outreach program in Mexico. The international collaborative was created in response to the Mexico earthquake of 1985. Dr. Hodge – in collaboration with the Rotary Club – has led a team of physicians and educators for over 20 years, providing healthcare to children and families in Mexico who otherwise would have limited access to medical care.
Dr. Hodge is also a member of several professional societies including the California State Medical Society. He served in the military as a captain in the U.S. Air Force (USAF) at the USAF Hospital in Lajes, Azores, Portugal.
Dr. Hodge received his medical degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. He completed an internship and general surgery residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn. He also completed a pediatric surgery residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pa.
