We understand that taking your child to the doctor or the hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic may seem scary. While the news about COVID-19 can make everything from a routine well child appointment to an emergency room visit seem daunting, we want you to know that your family’s health and safety is our top priority, and we’re committed to keeping your child well while making the healthcare experience less stressful for you.

Here are five key things we’re doing to keep your family safe for all your appointments.

#1: Health screening at all locations

Everyone entering a Valley Children’s facility is screened with questions regarding health and have their temperature checked before they are allowed to enter.

#2: Masking policy at all locations

To help protect our families and staff, everyone over the age of 2 must wear a mask while they’re in any Valley Children’s facility. Homemade cloth masks are welcome. If you or your child do not have a mask when you come for your appointment, don’t worry: we’ll provide one for you.

#3: Limiting people/visitors on site

To limit the number of people within our facilities, visitors to all Valley Children’s locations are limited to one parent, guardian or direct caregiver of patients. At this time, other visitors will not be allowed in our facilities.

#4: Increased cleaning of high traffic areas and frequently touched surfaces

Valley Children’s has enhanced our standard cleaning routine to maximize everyone’s safety. Our team uses hospital-grade cleaning products and focuses on high-touch areas, including elevator buttons and door handles.

#5: Adequate and appropriate personal protective equipment

In addition to all staff being masked, our care teams that interact with patients exhibiting symptoms of respiratory infections are supplied with additional personal protective equipment (PPE) to keep themselves and their patients safe.

At Valley Children’s, we’re committed to keeping your family safe during these challenging times. As a key partner in your child’s health and well-being, we value you as an essential part of the healthcare team and appreciate your help in keeping our patients, families and staff safe.
