Eagle Oaks Installation Wins Interactive Technology Award

(Bakersfield, CA) – Eagle Oaks Specialty Care Center in Bakersfield recently won a Bronze award by Summit Emerging Media Awards in the “Emerging Media – Consumer Interactive Media” category for their George’s Treehouse exhibit. The category recognizes technology that keeps pace with our times through innovative use of new media.

George’s Treehouse is a room young patients and visitors can enter that has three walls of interactive monitors. At kiosks, kids can customize characters, or a hot air balloon full of characters of their choice. Once selected, they can watch as their creation floats over the local landscape.

Long before Valley Children’s broke ground in Bakersfield at the site of Eagle Oaks, patient and family focus groups were already meeting to make decisions on interactive art exhibits that would be installed at the specialty care location. The art is designed to create a family-friendly experience while kids wait for their appointments, alleviating anxiety and fear.
