Valley Children's Hospital offers a variety of benefits in addition to the compensation you receive. Your eligibility for most benefits will depend on your employment classification. Employees who are regularly schedule to work a minimum of 40 hours each pay period are benefit eligible. Your benefits begin on the first day of the month after you are hired into a benefit eligible position.

Medical Plan

Children’s Hospital offers medical coverage for employees and their dependents. There are three deductible plans to choose from. Children’s Hospital’s Medical Plan is a self-insured plan, utilizing a preferred provider organization (PPO) network with over 43,000 providers to choose from. Benefits include $15 office visits, wellness benefit for annual exams and no referral needed to see a specialist.

Dental Plan

The Dental Plan is a self-insured plan utilizing a preferred provider organization (PPO) network. Highlights include a $25 annual deductible, 100% coverage on preventative exams and x-rays, an orthodontia benefit and your choice of dentist.

Vision Plan

Children’s Hospital provides vision assistance. Through a network of eye care providers, employees can receive eye exams for $25 and a reduced price on frames, lenses or contacts.

Prescription Plan

Children’s Hospital provides a prescription program as part of the medical plan. There are two components to the prescription drug program:

  • Retail for short term medications
  • Mail Service for long term medications

The prescription benefit includes co-pays for brand and generic medications.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Benefit eligible employees may elect annual to contribute pre-tax dollars to a flexible spending account. These pre-tax dollars can be used to reimburse the employee for dependent care and family medical expenses and as a result reduce your taxable income.

Life Insurance

Base life insurance is provided at one times annual pay at no charge to the employee. Additional coverage for life insurance (supplemental) may be purchased through payroll deduction. Life insurance for your spouse or children is also available. Permanent life insurance is available at an additional cost. This policy is fully portable and builds cash value.

Disability Insurance

Long term disability insurance is offered to benefit eligible employees. This coverage is provided at no cost to the employee. The benefit may provide up to 60% of your compensation lost due to a disability. Employees may purchase short term disability insurance.

Long Term Care Insurance

Long-term care insurance is offered to provide financial assistance in the event an employee needs care in a long-term care facility or medical care at home. The benefit is portable and the premium is fixed for the life of the policy. The program offers many flexible plans and is available to other family members.

Defined Contribution Retirement Plan

Supplemental Plan - You are eligible to participate in the plan on the first day you complete an Hour of Service. You can contribute any percentage of your Compensation subject to the limited specified by the Internal Revenue Service. The Hospital makes a Matching Contribution of 60% of the first 6% of your Compensation after completing one Year of Service in which you work at least 1,000 Hours of Service. Vesting is achieved after three years of employment.

Base Plan - You become a Participant in the Base Plan when you have completed one Year of Service and work at least 1,000 Hours of Service in the 12-month period from your date of hire. Each year that you work at least 1,000 hours and are employed on December 31st, the Hospital will contribute an amount equal to a percentage of your annual pay to your account. The percentage depends on your age and years of service. Vesting is achieved after three years of employment.

Education Assistance

Children’s Hospital encourages your professional development. There are two tuition assistance programs you may apply for to receive reimbursement for approved educational classes and programs.

  • Nursing Education (to obtain a degree in nursing)
  • General Plan (to obtain a degree or certification related to a position at Children’s Hospital)

Employee Health

Employee Health has a wide variety of services offered to employees:

  • Annual PPD
  • Cholesterol Screening
  • Flu Shots & Immunizations
  • Massage Therapy
  • Smoking Cessation Program

Gift Shop

The Hospital Gift Shop is staffed by volunteers and helps support the mission of Children’s Hospital. It offers a variety of personal items, jewelry, toys, stationery and candy. Employees may make purchases through payroll deductions.

Credit Union

Employees are eligible to join the Hospital-sponsored Credit Union which offers most regular banking services and allows direct deposit and payments from your paycheck.

Employees may sign up for Direct Deposit to their checking and/or savings account

Bravo! Career Achievement

Upon completion of five years of employment, employees are recognized for their years of service with an award and ceremony. Each five year milestone is recognized to reward and thank employees for their continuing service to Children’s Hospital.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Children’s Hospital offers services through an EAP for employees and their families who have problems in areas such as stress, finances, legal, alcohol, drugs and health. Many of these services are offered at no cost to the employee.

Vacation Discounts

A variety of discounts and coupons are available to employees.

Paid Time Off

If you are classified as a benefit eligible regular employee, you will accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) hours. PTO hours are used to compensate you during vacations, holidays and short-term sick days. The rate of accrual depends on the number of hours you are paid each pay period and the years of service you have with Children’s Hospital.

529 College Savings Program

This program is designed to assist employees with financially preparing for their family’s future educational needs. Our 529 Plan provides payroll deductions into a variety of investments. The earnings can be used for qualified educational expenses tax free.
